White-label banking app development: what sits behind one tap

A customer taps a phone to pay. Behind that tap sits a branded banking app, a ledger, card partners and a back office. Here is what a white-label banking app is, who it is for, and how Codset builds one under your brand.

The problem: banking products are hard to build and harder to run

Launching a banking product used to mean becoming a bank. Today most fintechs, marketplaces and enterprises work with a licensed banking or card partner instead, and put their own app on top. The catch is the app and the platform behind it. They have to be fast, branded, secure and reliable from the first transaction, and they have to keep working as the customer base grows.

Companies that try to stitch this together from several vendors end up with a ledger that does not match the app, support teams that cannot see what happened, and every release blocked by someone else's roadmap.

Who a white-label banking app is for

  • Banks and fintechs running several brands. that want one codebase instead of three apps drifting apart.
  • Marketplaces, payroll providers and platforms. that want to offer accounts, cards or payouts to their own users, in their own brand.
  • Retailers and loyalty programmes. adding a card or wallet to keep customers inside their ecosystem.
  • SMB finance products. that need accounts, invoicing and expenses in one place.

What white-label means in practice

The product is built once. Name, logo, colours, enabled features and languages come from configuration. Each brand gets its own look and product set, and every brand gets the same fixes and new features on the same day.

What we build under the screens

The app is what customers judge. The product lives or dies on the layers underneath it:

  • A ledger. that records every movement of money exactly once and can be reconciled.
  • Accounts and cards. through your licensed banking or card-issuing partner. A white-label app does not by itself give you a banking licence.
  • Onboarding and identity checks. so the right people get accounts and the wrong ones do not.
  • Payments and transfers. , domestic and international, with clear fees and statuses.
  • Back-office tools. for support, operations and compliance teams.
  • Security and monitoring. that run all the time, not only at launch.

A typical stack is React Native and TypeScript for the app, Go services, PostgreSQL for the ledger and Kafka for events. We choose the stack for each product, but every layer is owned by the same team.

A real example: Aldriv

Aldriv is a business banking platform designed and engineered by the Codset team. It brings multi-currency accounts, debit, virtual and crypto cards, global transfers, invoicing, expenses, bookkeeping and real-time cash flow into one product with one ledger, so a small company does not need four vendors that never share data.

The same approach beyond banking

We build AI assistants that answer from approved documents with sources (AI and agentic systems), government platforms with identity and access built in (cloud, security and sovereign delivery) and live digital twins of buildings and sites (data and digital twins). Same rule each time: one team owns the product, the platform and the code.

What it costs

A dedicated Product team starts at €13,900 a month on a 12-month term, and a Startup team at €7,900 a month. Single seats start at €2,200 a month. Price any mix of roles in the team configurator. The code and IP are yours from the first commit.

Questions buyers ask

How long does it take to build a white-label banking app?

It depends on the features and the partners involved. A first release with accounts, cards and transfers is a different scope from a full multi-brand platform. We scope it with you after the first brief.

Do I need a banking licence?

Usually you work with a licensed banking, e-money or card-issuing partner who holds the licence, and the app and platform sit on top. Get legal advice for your market.

Can one app carry several brands?

Yes. Brand, theme and enabled features come from configuration, so each brand gets its own look and product set from one codebase.

Who owns the code?

You do, from the first commit.

Your stage is already set to Startup. Add a few details and the brief goes to the people who will build it.
